I check my hair one last time in the hallway mirror before I head to answer the door. It’s exactly 6 pm and I smile at how punctual he is. I’ve decided to forgive him for last night. I don’t know what he’s had to go through with other girls or with gold diggers and I don’t want to make the same mistake he did.
I open the door, smiling as I take in Aiden. He changed and is wearing a pair of dark wash jeans with a tight black t-shirt that molds to his arms and chest. His hair is still damp and I can smell his body wash as he steps in and hugs me.
“Ready?” He asks and I nod, grabbing my jacket and purse before I lock the door.
Aiden leads me down the stairs and helps me into his car. We make small talk on the drive back to his place. He asks me about college and why I chose physical therapy and to work for a football team. I tell him more about my family and how I’ve always loved to watch football with my dad. He talks about the season and how he thinks the team is doing as he pulls through a gate and I get my first look at where Aiden lives.
His place is huge, a mansion, with brick walls and sprawling lawns. He parks out front and helps me out of his car. My mouth drops when I get a closer look of his place. It’s gorgeous.
He leads me up the walk to the huge front doors and I step into the marble foyer. A grand staircase greets us with a hall off to the right and left. Everything looks perfect and I subtly tuck my hands into my pockets, too afraid that I’ll touch something and break it.
“I’ve got dinner in the oven but would you like a quick tour?” He asks and I grin.
“I’d love that. Your place is gorgeous,” I tell him as he leads me down one hall and into a TV room.
There’s a huge leather sectional taking up most of the space with the typical flat screen TV hanging on the wall above the fireplace. A plush rug covers the marble floor and some football trophies line a case along the far wall.
He leads me past the TV room and points out some spare bedrooms and a bathroom. We pass his office and I peek my head inside, finding nothing but a big wooden desk and some shelves with more football trophies and memorabilia.
We walk back to the other side of the house and into the kitchen. Garlic and pepper fill the air and my stomach growls.
“Hungry?” Aiden asks with a smile and I nod.
“Need help with anything?” I ask as he leads me over to the counter.
“No, I got it. Hope you like roast chicken and vegetables.”
“Sounds delicious,” I tell him as he pulls out a chair at the table for me.
I watch him move around the room, pulling everything out of the oven and grabbing some plates.
